Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Interfaith Minister?
Interfaith minsters and spiritual counselors embody a meaningful response to the changing spiritual needs of our times. We are of service to people of all faiths (including agnostics and atheists) who are seeking an inclusive celebration of life and / or support during a crucial time. What is the difference between an elopement and a wedding? The biggest difference between an elopement vs a wedding is the number of people present. While a traditional ceremony can have a large number of guests, elopements typically consist of the couple and only a tiny, select group of family or friends in attendance. My fee for an elopement covers up to 10 people- anything higher is considered a traditional ceremony. Is Astrology considered a science or a pseudo-science? Science is evidence based, and since astrology can neither prove nor disprove anything through conventional research it is not a science. However, since around 2000 BC humans have been mapping and following the movement of constellations and planets, and from these observations theories were created. For instance, repeating celestial patterns during each season helped to guide the planting and harvesting of crops. Migrations from one geographical area to another were also planned according to these patterns. Philosophers and mathematicians experimented with the application of astronomy and astrology in their fields, and cross-culturally, people developed astrological systems specific to their regions. The binding factor is that before global transportation or communication existed, astrology was used in every major civilization. Today, astrology continues to hold a strong appeal, and when used a language of archetypes and symbolism, it can be used to understand ourselves and others in profound ways. |
